It all started when our group of friends wanted to socialise away from clubs and moved our kuiers to the beach. We began the free of charge Strand sokkies and soon almost a thousand like-minded friends and friends of friends joined us for wholesome fun.

We now kick off our Strand sokkies with a beach cleanup to show our appreciation for being able to use this stunning “venue” and support charitable causes like the Hout Bay Seal Rescue Centre (HBSRC) through donations and by creating awareness.

As our group grew, so did the need for better equipment and facilities. We now host paid sokkies at local venues, but our aim remains to create fun opportunities where people can dance, chat, and make new friends.
